PM Consulting s.r.o. is a consulting and education company offering a complex portfolio of services in an area of the project management. We are specialized in PROJECT MANAGEMENT IMPLEMENTATION, OPTIMALIZATION, ALIGNING with ISO 9000:2000 and PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT.

The company was established in 1995 as a part of the Companion of suppliers of complete industrial plants (SDIC) - in order to support this companion in the transformation into the conditions of market economy. There were about one thousand of educated participants in project management from the companies such as Skoda Praha, Skodaexport, Hydrosystem Group, Civil engineering companies etc.

The company changed its name to PM Consulting in 1997 and has continued in project management education after SDIC dissolution (it was no longer necessary). The company also joined Společnost pro projektové řízení - Czech national IPMA (International Project Management Association) organization in these times which continues to the present time.

Gathering of the experiences with IPMA standard of project management for the time longer than 12 years doesn't mean that we aren't interested in other world project management standards such as PMI or Prince 2. On the contrary we are very interested in process based standards and methodologies which can very suitable support competence based standard like IPMA Competence Baseline.

We are very focused on the personal and professional growth of our employees and external associates. Our consultants and lectors educate themselves and they are leveling up their standards and international certifications continuously. And the most important, our crew getting more and more experiences with the practical aspects of project management - which is the highest added value.

We have extended our portfolio of our services from the industry into academic and government sector as the time walk by. It is still project management, although it is performed in the different field and conditions which has to be honored.

We are up to date company acting mainly in The Czech Republic and surrounding EU countries. The main area of our focus is project management in all possible shapes - so we are doing project management itself, PM consultancy, PM education, PM implementation and optimalization, program and portfolio management.

This group consists mainly of companies taking their place in ITC, light industry and services.

We have made o lot of work with this group. Usually, the scenario is:

• Initial contact (often after someone form the customer company participates on some open course provided by us),
• Customer situation and needs analysis - it is need of optimization or implementation of project management in the customer company in the most of the cases,
• Development program agreement - we are designing and offering some schedule of possible steps to get the situation better and we are negotiate about it with the customer until its agreed,
• Providing basic necessary education and training - we need to spread out a common knowledge of project management throughout the customers company, so they are able to understand to the terms and philosophy of project management,
• Providing advanced training of customers project managers and higher management - so they are able to think about their company in the light of the high quality project management approach,
• Leading a workshop which initiate change project - in one or two days we are discussing a customer's company and its style of work, processes, KPI, culture etc. on one hand and possibilities on implementing standards of project management on the other hand. There are many things to change usually.
• Providing support during changes - we are participating on the customer change project, providing consultancy or some task such as process and KPI designing, additional training, leading some sub-projects (like implementation of some support software) and so on.
• Providing consultancy and coaching to the customer's project managers if necessary and needed after the change project is successfully over.

Our customers are mainly companies form 25 to 500 employees located in The Czech Republic and owned by locals or some foreign company.

Although we have a lot of participants of our open courses from really big enterprises, the most of our customers for following services are from s SME category. We are providing in-house trainings and consultancy mainly for the big enterprises.

In some cases we also helped to some SME to get dome EU funds money and manage such granted project but it is not very often.

Not major but significant is a government and municipal government market.

There are many participants of our open (or in-house) courses from government institutions such as ministries (for example Ministry of traffic) and other institutions ruled by government (such as CzechInvest, CzechTrade, etc.).

The biggest amount of work we do is for the local and/or municipal government. The most usual job is to help some municipality (or its organization) get some money from EU funds.

So we are analyzing possibilities, helping to design a project charter and scope, making EU funds application and, if it is successful, managing and monitoring the project to its financial end.

The biggest job of this kind was a city (about 45 000 citizens) development program consisting of:

• City strategy update,
• Taking care about some projects coming out form strategy update (for example to get MRI device for the city hospital),
• Design appeal for so called EU funded program "Integrated plan of city development" which was successful and the program is beginning in these days.

In country universities have been facing great changes in past few years. It is about structure of financing. They have to get used to the EU funds and projects as one of the very few possible sources of money for their development.

So they needed to learn project management philosophy and techniques, making appeals for their projects, managing a controlling their projects.

We are doing our best in helping them. We are providing a lot of trainings and courses from the area of common project management so as specialized trainings such as "How to make an appeal in the program XY" etc.

These activities are taking place since the beginning of the firs program period in The Czech Republic (2004 - 2006).

We are also partners of some university EU funded projects.
